Mount Isa, Queensland, Austrlia is about 900 miles away from Brisbane.
It is a mining town in the outback.
Because it is a mining town there are 5 men to every woman.
Damn it man, there are carnal urges abounding that a good game of darts can't solve - and because the mayor doesn't want to live up to the tourist board's motto: "Mount Isa - Where the men are Men and the Sheep are Scared!" he has offered up a beautiful solution to the ptroblem:
"May I suggest if there are five blokes to every girl, we should find out where
there are beauty-disadvantaged women and ask them to proceed to Mount Isa."
This has sparked outrage.
Well, today everything sparks outrage.
I think 27 year old Anna Warrick, a Mount Isa resident said it the best:
"We've got a saying up here that the odds are good, but the goods are odd."
