1. Tropic Thunder - Run, don't walk, to see this movie. This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Everyone in this movie steals a scene or two and the riff on Hollywood is just pitch perfect. Robert Downey Jr as a white man dyed black who cannot stop being black even when he knows the movie isn't being filmed is great as is Tom Cruise as a bald, fat, hirsute, obscenity spewing, screaming Jewish Hollywood executive - and Tom Cruise steals the film. Since there are 3 fake trailers and a fake commercial you may not know when reality ends and the movie begins. Long Live Alpa Chino! 4 out of 5

2. The Woman in The Window - Edward G. Robinson and Fritz Lang, need I say more? I guess I must. Eddie plays a college professor entranced with the portrait of a beautiful woman. when he meets her - in the form of Joan Bennett, he gets caught up in a web of murder and deceit and the walls close in on him as the main suspect in the murder of Joan's friend. The movie is cold and clinical with depictions of crime scene investigation that would make Jerry Bruckheimer proud. The ending is a slam banger and well worth the rental. 5/5

3. Bubba Ho-Tep - Elvis never died. he switched places with the leading Elvis impersonator. The Elvis impersonator is the guy who died. The real Elvis (beautifully played by Bruce Campbell), going under the name of Sebastian Haff, now lives in a shitty Texas nursing home, waiting to die - his worst problem is an inflammation on his dick, until a mummy in cowboy hat and boots starts stealing the souls of the nursing home residents. Now it's up to Elvis with help from John F. Kennedy (played by Ossie Davis. Yes, Ossie Davis. YES, THAT Ossie Davis) who also did not die but who was died black after the attempted assassination and whose brain - or a large part of it- was removed and replaced with a bag of sand, to get rid of the murderous mummy. Do I need to review this movie? I hope not. Watch and enjoy. 4/5.
